The recent spell of warm weather has melted most of the snow and our thoughts are beginning to turn to things of spring. I realize we still have a couple months of winter according to the calendar, but let's hope we aren't treated too severely. Registration - This note is a reminder of our registration process for spring soccer. There are three ways to register. The first and easiest is to simply go to our website, www.communitysoccerclub.com, click on Registration, and download the registration form and medical form. Fill them out and send with your check to the address provided on the form. That's all there is to it! Oh, make sure you send in two copies of the med form as one goes to the coach and one stays on file with the club. This will save us having to make copies. The second way is to come out to Diamond Community Park, 2782 Diamond Street, on Saturday, March 7, from 9:00 to noon. This will be our final in-person registration opportunity for the spring season. The third way, for those of you who live in the Canton area, may find it convenient to register at the Canton Joint Recreation District office in the Canton Civic Center. They're open weekdays from 8:30 to 4:30. The registration deadline is Monday, March 9. Any players submitting registration forms postmarked after that date will be placed on a waiting list subject to space available. Also, special requests will not be honored. Once registered, the children will be placed on teams and coaches assigned. You will hear from the coach sometime the week of April 6 regarding practice times. Check out the FAQ page on our website for more information. Coaching - Here's an item of possible interest to coaches or prospective coaches for the U6 - U8 (Kindergarten through Grade 2) age groups. The local travel club, Strikers Soccer Club, is conducting a coaching clinic for U6 - U8 coaches on Sunday, February 22, 2009 from 4:00Pm - 7:00PM at the Sportdome in Jackson Township. The cost of the class is $25 and interested coaches/parents can sign up at: https://ssl.hammerhead.net/ohionorthcoaching/displaycoursesnew.asp. Also, do you have kids in the 5-9 year old range that might be interested in attending? The course is held on the field with children. Please contact Mike Somody, President of Strikers Soccer Club, at president@strikerssoccerclub.org to let him know. They will include a $5 Dairy Queen coupon for all children that attend.
